A factor that doubles the likelihood of death from COVID-19

British scientists have found that kidney disease more than doubles the risk of death from coronavirus infection.
According to Gadin.Net, the study was published in the journal Anaesthesia.
The researchers analyzed data from 372 coronavirus patients in intensive care units at four hospitals in London and Birmingham between March 10 and July 23.
216 of them had chronic or infection-related kidney problems. Of those patients, 107 (about 50 percent) died. Of the remaining 156 patients without renal insufficiency, only 32 died (21 percent).
Scientists believe that this may be due to the "cross-linking" between the lungs and kidneys and the use of toxic substances in the treatment of infections.
