U.S. scientists have warned of a new global threat due to the proliferation of superbacteria.

According to researchers, every year 700,000 people around the world fall victim to a particularly resistant bacterium. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that by 2050 the number of people infected with harmful microorganisms will reach 10 million.
Scientists believe that regular use of antibiotics makes it difficult and sometimes impossible to treat many bacterial infections, including gonorrhea, tuberculosis and salmonella strains.
Stephanie Stratdi, a professor at the University of San Diego in California, said the world would soon face a new epidemic as a result of the uncontrolled use of antibiotics in the wake of the pandemic.
"This is a global crisis and COVID-19 is exacerbating the situation."
