Skin problems
If you've noticed a few pimples or are experiencing acne problems, it may be hormone-related. Classic signs that your sex hormones are out of balance; It can appear as pimples along the jawline, on your chest or back.
Sebum production increases when sex hormone levels rise for the first time in adolescence. Sebum released from the sebaceous gland can cause acne problems. However, since there are bacteria living on us all the time when you produce more sebum, we give the bacteria more to feed on and thus allow them to multiply in number. In such cases, we feel that our skin is a little congested. Pimples may occur or feel a little lumpy or we may see small cysts.
Hair loss
If you've ever been in the shower and thought about how much hair you've lost, this is normal. However, if you have noticed that you are shedding in clumps or have noticed that the part of your hair is starting to expand, it may be a sign that your hair is starting to thin and you are losing faster than normal.
One of the common hormone imbalances associated with hair loss is your prolactin levels. Prolactin is the sex hormone that we usually only produce while breastfeeding. When you have high prolactin levels, it can cause the levels of androgens, which are male sex hormones, to rise, and hair loss occurs with this rise in androgen.
Skin pigmentation problems
Skin pigmentation problems can occur for a number of reasons, such as spending too much time in the sun or excessive stress. Often times, however, it's caused by an excess of estrogen and not enough progesterone.
When women experience hormone imbalances, they may find that they have some pigmentation problem and often this is due to too much estrogen.
