European countries are preparing for the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Experts say the policies and positions that have led to a resurgence of the pandemic on the continent include public health and decision-making, tourism, return to work and the restrained behavior of young people.
According to the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of daily infections in the European Union and the UK broke a new record this week, surpassing 45,000 in the 14-day notification process, Gadin.Net reports quoting publika.az. Although the death rate from the virus in Europe has remained stable for 72 days, the death toll is rising in Bulgaria, Croatia, Malta, Romania and Spain.
The fluctuation in the number of infections on the continent began with the summer holiday season. The World Health Organization says the increase may be due in part to easing measures and people missing out. It is noted that the evidence shows that the cause of the second wave is young people.
Hans Klugge, WHO's European director, said the continent saw an increase in the older age group (50-79 years) in the first week of September, with the highest infection rate in the 25-49 age group.
