The most popular specialties of applicants in Azerbaijan have been announced
In Azerbaijan, the most prestigious specialties have been identified, which are more in line with the wishes of applicants for each specialty group, and are more often mentioned in the first place in the applications.
This information was stated in the scientific-statistical analysis of the State Examination Center (SEC) on the results of entrance examinations and final exams for students of higher and secondary special education institutions of Azerbaijan for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The competition situation for each specialty depends not only on the number of entrants who choose that specialty, but also on the number of planned places allocated for that specialty.
As a rule, an increase in the number of entrants leads to an increase in the competitive situation, and an increase in the number of planned places leads to a decrease in the competitive situation. From this point of view, the competitive situation cannot fully reflect the level of prestige of the specialty.
So, last year, the most entrants in the Azerbaijan section in the first group were "Mathematics Teaching" of Baku State University, in the second group - "Finance" in the second group, in the third group - "Foreign Language Teaching (in English)", in the fourth group - Azerbaijan Medical University. In the 5th group of the University, they preferred the specialties of "Physical Education and Sports" of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports.
Apart from the first specialty group, the selection of entrants in the Russian section in other specialty groups was the same as in the Azerbaijani section. In the first specialty group, the entrants of the Russian department preferred the specialty "Information Technologies" of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. The increase in interest in the specialty "Mathematics Teaching" in the first specialty group in the Azerbaijani section can be attributed to the care shown by the Ministry of Education to pedagogical specialties.
