In such cases, a person may need the support of friends and relatives, as well as the professional help of a psychotherapist or clinical psychologist.
According to the Ministry of Health, the head of the Emergency Psychological Service Gunel Aliyeva spoke in an interview about ways to cope with such difficulties.
Answering the question "How to effectively prevent stress", the psychiatrist said that stress is the body's protective response to changing environmental conditions. There are both positive and negative forms of stress. Positive stress is a defensive response that mobilizes the human body to adapt to a changing environment. In turn, negative stress (distress) can lead to various psychological disorders.
"The human psyche can resist various negative factors. Our resilience to stress is capable of many things and can adapt to certain stresses and changes. However, sometimes a person is unable to cope with distress, which in turn has a negative impact on his daily life. Distress can lead to aggression, insomnia, depression, anxiety. These conditions, in turn, can lead to alcohol abuse, smoking, and other bad habits. If the symptoms persist for more than two weeks, I recommend consulting a specialist, ”said the psychiatrist.
According to him, there are a number of ways to increase resilience to stress, such as getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, regular physical activity, walking and communicating with positive people. "All these factors contribute to the reduction of distress and the improvement of mental state," said Gunel Aliyeva.
"How to help a loved one in times of stress?" Answering the question, Gunel Aliyeva said that first of all, in order to determine the causes of emotional imbalance, it is necessary to pay more attention to him, to communicate with him constantly.
The psychiatrist also shared his recommendations on how to deal with stress independently. "It's not really that hard to deal with stress alone," he said. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. The most effective ways to do this are: physical (8 hours of normal sleep a day, healthy eating, 20-30 minutes of physical activity daily, walks in the fresh air, yoga), mental: (development of positive thinking and optimism, looking for ways to improve the situation) and emotional: (favorite music, communication with relatives, helping others in difficult situations) ”.
