"Armenia must accept the existence of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border in the direction of Zangilan and Gubadli."
The statement came from Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, at a briefing for foreign military attaches accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan and representatives of international organizations (UN, EU, ICRC).
Hajiyev noted that the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are being attacked from the opposite direction of the border, which forces the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to take counter-offensive measures: "Armenia must respect the borders of Azerbaijan."
Stressing that it is a criminal act of the Armenian armed forces to target the civilian population, the Azerbaijani presidential aide said that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are responding to the enemy on the battlefield.
