Statistics on causes of death in Azerbaijan in 2019 have been published.
According to Qadin.Net, the number of deaths from diseases of the circulatory system (cardiovascular diseases) was higher in the country last year.
Earlier, the State Statistics Committee reported that 55,916 deaths were registered in the country last year.
Compared to 2018, the death rate per 1,000 people fell from 5.8 to 5.6.
In 2019, 32,471 people in Azerbaijan (this figure was 33,909 in 2018) died due to diseases of the circulatory system.
The second leading cause of death from diseases in the country is related to new derivatives (oncological diseases). In 2019, 8,819 people died from new derivatives. This is more than in 2018. Thus, in 2018, 8,718 deaths were registered for the same reason.
Last year, 2,789 people died from trauma, poisoning and other external causes.
Digestive system diseases are the fourth leading cause of death. These diseases killed 2,687 people in Azerbaijan last year.
Compared to 2018, the number of deaths due to symptoms, signs and abnormalities detected by clinical and laboratory tests, which are not classified in other sections, was higher. Two years ago, 1,598 deaths were registered, and last year 1,687 deaths
