The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles has sent a letter of protest to UFC President Dana White regarding the raising of the so-called "flag" of the illegal regime established by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The statement came from Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Leyla Abdullayeva, Gadin.Net reports.
The letter states that the illegal organization is nothing but the result of Armenia's military aggression.
The unequivocal position of the United States on the support of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity has been brought to the attention of the UFC leadership.
"According to UFC rules, only the flags of internationally recognized countries are allowed to be displayed, and due to attempts to politicize the competition, appropriate disciplinary measures were taken against the fighter of Armenian origin and such cases should not be repeated in the future," Abdullayeva added.
