Transparent toilets have been launched in Tokyo, Japan.
The toilets are made of "smart" glass, according to The Guardian.
Public toilets, a project of the Tokyo Toilet Project, work on a simple principle - when a person enters the cabin, the glass darkens and loses transparency.
In addition to their main functions, high-tech toilets also act as a flashlight. They illuminate the roads in the parks in the dark.
The idea of creating transparent toilets, the idea of which belongs to the Japanese architect Shigeru Bana, is also to dispel stereotypes about public toilets, which are considered "dirty and smelly."
Transparent models solve two problems at once - it is possible to see through the glass whether the interior is clean and whether the cabin is busy. In this way, the potential user can determine in advance whether it is necessary to pay to visit the toilet.
