Unfortunately, most pregnant women are at risk for varicose veins. The main reasons for this are:
- rapid weight gain and, as a result, increased load on the lower extremities;
- sedentary and sedentary lifestyle of pregnant women;
- pressure on the small pelvic vessels of the growing uterus;
- Increased blood mass circulating in the arteries, etc.
All this makes it difficult for blood to flow in the lower peripheral arteries, which causes them to dilate.
If there is a hereditary predisposition, the likelihood of developing varicose veins increases even more.
The following conditions must be observed for the prevention of varicose veins during pregnancy:
- Do not stand for a long time, do not lift heavy objects, do not squat, do not work leaning forward. Perform "standing" work at intervals, and during the break, lie down with your legs slightly raised;
- From the first day of pregnancy it is necessary to wear special compression stockings, socks or golfs. They prevent the veins from dilating by squeezing the legs. These tights and socks are selected by a doctor phlebologist after an initial examination of the pregnant woman. After the examination, the doctor will determine the required pressure for your foot - the degree of compression (usually it is 4 degrees). It should be noted that the degree of compression of the treated knitwear is not "denim" (as in ordinary tights), but mm.c. st. measured with.
These socks or golfs must be on a woman's feet during childbirth.
