In accordance with the instructions and recommendations of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Prosecutor General's Office continues to work effectively in establishing business relations and friendly relations with the prosecutor's office and other criminal prosecution agencies, as well as international organizations. At the invitation of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, a delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev visited Moscow on January 12 to participate in events dedicated to the 299th anniversary of the Russian Prosecutor's Office.
During the meeting with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, it was noted that due to the development of friendly and cooperative relations between our countries, the joint efforts and political will of the heads of state, these relations have risen to the level of strategic partnership. During the meeting, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev said that in accordance with the political course of the country's leadership, large-scale reforms were carried out in the prosecutor's office, the structure of the Prosecutor General's Office was completely restructured to increase the flexibility and efficiency of work. The number has been increased to 18. The Prosecutor General noted that the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia for almost thirty years were liberated by our victorious army under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, within the norms and principles of international law, including the UN Security Council.
He said he had restored its territorial integrity in accordance with its resolutions. During the meeting, a Cooperation Program covering 2021-2023 was signed in connection with the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of Azerbaijan and Russia dated June 24, 2019. The parties expressed confidence that the close cooperation and friendly relations between the prosecutor's offices of our countries will continue to develop successfully in all areas, as well as the Cooperation Program will be an important document defining the future development of relations and create a favorable environment for new prospects.
In addition, they discussed cooperation in combating various forms of organized crime, including terrorism, corruption, human trafficking and drug trafficking, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the two countries, legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, training visits, as well as The sides exchanged views on cooperation within bilateral and international organizations and other issues of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbuloglu. Also, a trilateral meeting of the Prosecutors General of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia was held at the initiative of the Russian side. The meeting discussed the implementation of the relevant items of the trilateral statements of the heads of state dated November 10, 2020 and January 11, 2021, as well as legal cooperation mechanisms.
