President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on "Deepening media reforms in the Republic of Azerbaijan." According to the decree, a public legal entity "Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was established on the basis of the Fund of State Support for the Development of Mass Media under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Thus, the Media Development Agency is the legal successor of the State Support Fund for Media Development, and its rights and obligations, as well as property, pass to the Agency. The authorized fund of the agency is 285,405 manat and is formed at the expense of the state budget. The general management and control over the activity of the Agency is carried out by the Supervisory Board consisting of the Chairman and 6 members appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
The current management of the Agency's activity is carried out by the Executive Director appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The decree also approved the Charter of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
