The grandmother who committed the brutal murders died of coronavirus in the prison

Sofya Zhukova, a Russian pensioner accused of a number of crimes, contracted the coronavirus in prison and died at the age of 81. This was reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda, citing a source.

A pensioner from the village of Berezovka (Khabarovsk) was suspected of a crime in 2019 after the discovery of a severed human hand near the heating main near his residence.

It turned out that the remains belonged to a Ukrainian sweeper who rented Zhukova's room. When law enforcement officers arrived at the elderly woman's home, they found a number of pieces of evidence, including blood stains, knives and saws.

The suspect was detained, and shortly afterwards, he confessed to killing his tenant. Zhukova later told investigators that she killed an eight-year-old girl in December 2005. While in pre-trial detention, the pensioner confessed to another murder - the murder of his girlfriend. According to him, the crime was committed in April 2013. According to the investigation, Zhukova killed all her victims with an ax and then chopped them up. Zhukova reportedly died of coronavirus complications at a Khabarovsk city hospital. The court had not yet sentenced him.
