"Currently, according to the results of the First Karabakh War, 3,890 Azerbaijani citizens are registered as missing in the State Commission. The State Commission continues to take necessary measures to search for all our missing citizens. This was stated in an interview with AZERTAC by Eldar Samadov, Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Captives, Missing and Hostages. He noted that this work is also carried out jointly with relevant international organizations:
According to the framework agreement signed between the ICRC office in Azerbaijan and the State Commission on the collection and centralized management of information on missing persons in connection with the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, this work has been intensified in recent years. Under the agreement, more than 3,600 questionnaires on missing persons were collected and the information was entered into an electronic database. Another important task is to take biological (DNA) samples from the families of the missing. In recent years, about 3,000 biological samples have been collected and properly documented.
