Later, the veteran was welcomed at home by his parents and one-year-old son. Mammadov was engaged in wrestling and karate. Mammadov, who repeatedly won national competitions, went to military service after graduating from high school. After his discharge from the army, he entered the Academy of Physical Culture and Sports.
He graduated from the academy and went back to the military. Mammadov, who served as a sergeant in the Border Troops, became one of the active participants in the Patriotic War, which began on September 27. Our hero, who advanced to Shusha and received bullet wounds in both legs in the battles for Shusha, remained wounded in that area for three days. Three days later, on November 8, when Shusha was liberated, his comrades rescued him and hospitalized him. Gizir Mammadov said he would be sent to his comrades again when he regained his health.
