The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the US sanctions against Ankara over the purchase of S-400 weapons. The statement said: "We condemn and reject the decision of the United States to impose unilateral sanctions on Turkey for the supply of S-400 air defense systems. Everyone knows very well why Turkey bought S 400s.
Even President Donald Trump himself has repeatedly said that Turkey is right. On the other hand, the United States claims that the S-400s will create a vulnerability for NATO systems, and this has no technical basis. Turkey has repeatedly proposed the establishment of a technical working group with the participation of NATO on this issue, and ways to move away from political bias on an objective and realistic basis. In this regard, it is unreasonable for the United States to reject our offer to resolve the issue through dialogue and diplomacy in a way that suits the two allies and to impose unilateral sanctions.
Turkey will take the necessary steps against this decision, which inevitably affects our relations. Turkey will not shy away from the measures it deems necessary to ensure national security. It is said that on this basis, Ankara calls on Washington to reconsider unfair sanctions and correct mistakes as soon as possible. It is stressed that Turkey is ready to resolve the issue through dialogue and diplomacy in accordance with the spirit of the union.
