Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) are helping the leaders of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to investigate an unknown disease. A spokesman for the organization told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the Indian Ministry of Health announced the creation of a special team to investigate an unknown disease in the southern city of Eluru. A WHO official said two staff members were supporting India's public health authorities to conduct the investigation. He said the state government had sent additional medical personnel and ambulances to the Indian city of Eluru.
In addition, experts from the country's leading institute are joining the investigation. It should be noted that since December 6, an unknown disease has spread rapidly in and around the Indian city of Eluru. One person died and about 850 people were hospitalized. Symptoms include dizziness, epilepsy, sudden fainting, foaming at the mouth, and tremors. According to local government officials, the disease is not transmitted from person to person. Studies have shown that the disease is not associated with coronavirus. All patients underwent tests and computed tomography. Experts believe that people can get sick because of certain toxic compounds in water or food.
