Relations between Moscow and Washington are not very good at the moment, but Russia is not to blame. The statement came from Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reported. Journalists were particularly interested in whether Anatoly Chubais, President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for international organizations, could be a mediator between the Kremlin and the United States to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
"One of the components of the bilateral dialogue between Moscow and Washington may be to achieve the goals of sustainable development, but not because the dialogue between Moscow and Washington is not so good, and Russia is not to blame. However, if this were one of the components of our dialogue, it would not be the only constructive part of it, so, of course, as we have said before, Chubais will pay special attention to the issue of sustainable development.
"As for bilateral Russia-US relations, both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other departments in coordination with it, as well as the president himself, are dealing with it," he added.
