Azerbaijan decides on credit debts of martyrs' families - OFFICIAL

Recent reports in some media outlets and social networks that banks are worried about the families of martyrs and veterans to repay their loans do not reflect the truth.
The Association of Banks of Azerbaijan reported. In this regard, the ABA statement said that in order to support our servicemen and our citizens who suffered as a result of enemy provocations, the banks unanimously take the following decisions:
- Consumer loans to banks and interest and other payments to our servicemen killed in the battles for the liberation of our lands should be completely written off;
- Consumer loans to banks and interest and other payments to our civilians who lost their lives as a result of enemy provocation should be completely written off;
- To suspend the calculation of interest and other payments on credit obligations of servicemen wounded during military operations to banks from September 27, 2020;
- To pay to the families of bank employees who were martyred in the battles for the liberation of our lands in the amount of the martyr's annual salary;
- To pay a one-time financial assistance in the amount of his three-month salary to bank employees injured in the battles for the liberation of our lands. It was added that ABA member banks fully implement the decision. Banks do not have information on people mobilized to the front, wounded and killed in the war zone and other relevant information. "Therefore, banks' contacts with the families of martyrs and veterans may not be for the purpose of securing credit obligations, but only for the purpose of determining their relevant status and making appropriate entries in the bank's internal database." At present, we believe that the dissemination of unfounded, misleading information for the sake of news ratings and views is not in line with our overall work and goals, and it is advisable to avoid such cases, "the statement said.
