STATEMENT on the resolution adopted by the French Senate from Turkey

"Yesterday's resolution of the French Senate on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is an example of the failure to take into account the most basic principles of international law, legitimacy and justice for the sake of domestic policy." The statement came from the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The organization also called the decision of the French Senate a clear indication of why the OSCE Minsk Group has not been able to resolve the issue so far.
"After the aggression and provocations of Armenia, first in Tovuz and then in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan responded and restored its territorial integrity by liberating its lands, which have been occupied for almost 30 years," the statement said. According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijan's results in this area are reflected in the UN resolutions and the specification of the rights registered but not implemented during the Minsk process, co-chaired by France. Because the relevant UN resolutions regulate the immediate and unconditional expulsion of Armenians from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
"In such a situation, the call of the French Senate to withdraw from the lands liberated by Azerbaijan from occupation is a manifestation of a ridiculous, biased and unrealistic understanding that cannot be taken seriously. This illogical decision, which has no reasonable justification, limits France's real contribution to the solution of the problem, "the statement said. "We hope that at the stage of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict, which has lasted for almost 30 years, France will show a constructive attitude to the stability of the region by drawing the right conclusions. It is enough to make an effort to find a lasting solution in accordance with international law, based on existing realities, "the statement said. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that Ankara is ready to work with France, like other allies, to contribute to regional peace and stability in the decades-long conflict in the immediate area.
