IMPORTANT STATEMENT from the scientist on the archeological finds of Azykh cave

A few days ago, the Azerbaijani military informed the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography that during a search of a house in the liberated village of Azykh in Khojavend region, they found boxes with the inscription "Azykh" and archeological materials inside. In this regard, the enterprise informed the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the leadership of ANAS.
This was stated by Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Najaf Museyibli. According to him, under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, our army liberated our lands and ancient monuments. For nearly thirty years, Armenia has conducted illegal archeological research on historical monuments in our occupied territories in violation of international conventions, and has involved some European scientists in this work. In this regard, a criminal case has already been opened in the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and appropriate measures are being taken.
Due to the importance of the information, Azad Zeynalov, an employee of the institute, Doctor of Philosophy in History, was sent to the region together with a representative of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the on-site inspection, it was found that these boxes contained the findings of illegal archeological excavations carried out by scientists from Armenia and other countries in the Azykh Cave, a world-famous monument and primitive human camp of the Paleolithic period during the occupation. Most of them are the remains of ancient fauna. These findings in about 90 plastic boxes were brought to Baku last night and placed in the Archaeological Fund of the institute. Interestingly, in one of the boxes were found some field research documents of the illegal expedition of the occupiers. Apparently, the occupiers did not have the opportunity to take these findings with them from the Republic of Azerbaijan. However, it is not known whether all the findings of illegal excavations are here. According to the professor, all these findings will be studied and analyzed at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, and the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the general public will be informed in detail. Our scientists express their deep gratitude to our servicemen and the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
