Armenian President Armen Sargsyan called for early parliamentary elections in the country. According to Gadin.Net, this was reported by the Russian NTV channel.
According to him, until then, governance should be transferred to the government of national consent. According to Armen Sargsyan, Armenia has lost both in the war and on the battlefield, as well as on diplomatic and international platforms: "Given the current situation and public demands, it is clear that early parliamentary elections are necessary to avoid internal political turmoil." He said he met with many representatives of various spheres of public and political life to discuss related issues. "The vast majority of participants agreed on one issue - the resignation of the Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution, or the abolition of his powers and the holding of early parliamentary elections," Sargsyan added.
It should be noted that Armenia is a parliamentary republic, ie the holding of early elections implies the resignation of the government and the prime minister. The new government and prime minister are elected by a parliamentary majority.
