Today, President Ilham Aliyev shared on his Twitter account the liberation of a number of our territories. One of the liberated villages is Ashagi Mollu village of Gubadli region, the homeland of the fugitive Nabi. People's Hero of Azerbaijan, an active participant in the smuggling movement in Azerbaijan in the second half of the 19th century, the fugitive Nabi was born in this village.
The fugitive Nabi, who waged a fearless guerrilla war in Zangazur and Nakhchivan, was born in 1854 in Ashagi Mollu village of Zangazur district (now Gubadli region). On his way back from Karbala in March 1896, Nabi was the victim of an ambush prepared by Russian spies in the village of Larni, on the Turkish-Iranian border. The memory of Nabi still lives in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people. Epics, songs and poems reflecting his heroism are recited. Hajar khanum, the wife of the fugitive Nabi, was born in Yukhari Mollu village of Gubadli, which was liberated from occupation. Hajar khanum also fought shoulder to shoulder with her husband Nabi against injustice on horseback. Ali, the father of the fugitive Nabi, hired him to a rich man in the village of Ashagi Mollu, taking into account the difficulties in his family. The local landowner wanted to seize the land of the villagers. Nabi could not stand it and resisted the landlord. After that, the fugitive falls. He forms a group of dissatisfied peasants like himself. His gang is smuggling in Nakhchivan and Zangazur districts. He protected the villagers from oppressors. He took the property of the landowners and distributed it to the villagers. His wife, Hagar, was also an accomplice of the fugitive Nabi. For 20 years, the tsarist government tried to destroy the fugitive Nabi's gang. However, he failed to achieve his goal. Finally, on March 12, 1896, two traitors suddenly attacked and killed Nabi.
