The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies warns citizens about "phishing" campaigns on behalf of well-known companies via WhatsApp.
The ministry said that in order to trap users, cybercriminals sent them spam messages on WhatsApp on behalf of Adidas and other well-known companies, claiming that free products were distributed on the occasion of the anniversary of those companies.
To receive the gift, the user is asked to enter the link and fill out the form. Relying on the information, the user is redirected to a fake page similar to the official page of the company.
In addition, the user is also required to send the message to the 20 WhatsApp users on the number list, including the mobile number.
The purpose of cybercriminals is to make money in an "easy" way by collecting fake ad views, forcing users to download third-party applications, and seizing personal information.
The first way to protect yourself from such cyberattacks is to be skeptical of every message received, not to be deceived by attractive promises, and to check the accuracy of the information using different means of communication.
Citizens are asked to verify the accuracy of such information on behalf of any company, institution or organization by first contacting the company or visiting its official website on a new page opened in a web browser.
Also, if they face any cyber incident or need methodological support, they should apply to the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies via www.cert.az or e-mail [email protected].
