There is a great potential for the development of mining and metallurgy in Karabakh.
This was stated by the head of the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Vusal Gasimli.
He said that for this, industrial resources must be re-evaluated:
"There are 155 different types of mineral deposits in the occupied territories, including 5 gold, 6 mercury, 2 copper, 1 lead and zinc, 19 facing stones, etc. var. The world market value of 132.6 tons of gold with proven industrial reserves alone is around $ 8 billion.
Rare and valuable mineral deposits are spread in the region. Reserves of significant copper-zinc ores are concentrated in the Mehmana deposits in the eastern part of the Lesser Caucasus. Industrially important mercury reserves are located in Shorbulag and Agyatag in the Kalbajar region. The occupied territories are very rich in various types of construction materials, which are of great importance in the industry and construction of Azerbaijan. Large reserves of such materials are in Chobandag, Shahbulag, Boyahmedli and other fields located in the Aghdam region. Also, large construction stone deposits are located in Khankendi, and marble in Harov.
V.Gasimli believes that Karabakh can become a center for Azerbaijan's creative industry:
"It is possible to develop music, literature, crafts, theater, carpet weaving and other creative industries in Karabakh."
