As it is known, the draft document submitted by the Non-Aligned Movement and the current member states of the Security Council in the discussions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in the UN Security Council these days was adopted by the Security Council in 822, 853, 874, 884 in 1993. have insisted on including a reference to their resolutions.
As a result, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, permanent members of the Security Council, were forced to withdraw their draft statement.
In this regard, President Ilham Aliyev has sent letters to the heads of state and government of Indonesia, Tunisia, Niger, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, South Africa and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in support of Azerbaijan's position in the UN Security Council.
The letters thanked the countries for their principled position during the discussions in the UN Security Council.
The letters note that such a strong position of these countries demonstrates their commitment to the principles of Bandung, the values of the Non-Aligned Movement, respect for multilateralism and international law. This position is considered a sign of historical friendship in our bilateral relations.
The letters further state that the continued support of these countries will contribute to the settlement of the conflict on the basis of known resolutions of international law and the Security Council.
At the end, they expressed confidence in the successful development of our bilateral relations, as well as our multilateral cooperation within the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement.
