The quake occurred during a live interview with Icelandic Prime Minister Catherine Jacobsdouttir to the Washington Post.
According to Lenta.ru, images of the Prime Minister's reaction to the unexpected event were shared on social media.
The politician was answering a question about how Iceland will manage the epidemiological situation if it opens its borders. At that moment, the room where Jacobsdouttir was sitting began to shake.
"Oh my God, this is an earthquake," she said excitedly.
Despite the fears, the prime minister soon regained his composure, saying that everything was in order and the house was stable enough, and continued to answer the question.
The magnitude of the quake was 5.5 near Krisjuvik.
