Famous French photographer of Iranian origin Reza Diggati shared about Shusha on his Instagram page.
The photographer wrote photos and memoirs taken in Shusha a few hours before the occupation with the hashtag "The Last Tea in Shusha, 1992" and #karabakhisazerbaijan, #shusha #Karabakh.
R.Digqati noted in his article that Shusha was the historical and cultural center of the Karabakh region and the last strategic support of Azerbaijan:
"In April 1992, all the roads to Shusha were controlled by Armenian troops, and Azerbaijanis had to cross the mountain to reach this important city. After a long siege, the Armenian military launched an operation to seize the city on May 8, 1992.
They attacked from three sides, besieging Azerbaijani military units and civilians on the hills where they were stationed. Within hours, Armenian forces wounded and killed hundreds of men, women and children.
After capturing the city, bandits and vandals set fire to major cultural centers, museums, mosques and schools. Most of the cultural sites in Shusha were looted or burned, and all Azerbaijanis were forced to flee. Shusha was one of the big cities of Azerbaijan captured by Armenian troops.
