Ilham Aliyev: "If Yerevan holds constructive talks, Baku will suspend military operations"

Baku is ready to suspend military operations as soon as possible if Yerevan acts constructively in the negotiation process.

This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in an interview with TASS.

"It's not our fault that the situation is still hot," he said. I have repeatedly said that Azerbaijan is committed to the principles of regulation developed through a long process of negotiations. "If Armenia behaves constructively in the negotiation process, we are ready to suspend military operations tomorrow, but the statements we hear from Yerevan completely contradict the basic principles developed by the OSCE Minsk Group," said Ilham Aliyev. said in response to a question about a complete violation.

The President also noted that the Armenian side was responsible for violating the negotiation process.

"Recently, the Armenian leadership has again made very dangerous statements that actually reject the basic principles. All the activities of the new Armenian leadership were aimed at disrupting the negotiation process. I have already spoken about their numerous statements, provocative activities and attacks on the civilian population of Azerbaijan. Therefore, if the Armenian side finally understands that the path of military provocations will lead them to disaster, we are ready to suspend military operations and resolve the issue at the negotiating table, "said Ilham Aliyev.

The President also stressed Baku's commitment to its commitments in contacts with partners.

"From the very beginning, in the process of negotiations for the settlement of the conflict, we have always been based on our commitment to international law and the peaceful settlement of the conflict. We tried to fulfill the commitments made by Azerbaijan after the talks in Moscow. "Unfortunately, Armenia has grossly violated the ceasefire - less than 24 hours later, the sleeping city of Ganja was attacked," he said.

According to the President of Azerbaijan, the blow was deliberately inflicted on the settlements, and after the first attack there were many dead and wounded.

"In other words, Armenia violated the ceasefire in a demonstrative way, thus disrespecting the mediators and their commitments after so long negotiations in Moscow.

Following the agreement on the terms of the ceasefire for the exchange of prisoners and bodies, Armenia violated the ceasefire on the battlefield. However, it seems that this was not enough for them and they attacked the city of Ganja.

By the way, the night before two days ago, they did it again. This is a very low crime, this is international terrorism. "The fact that the world community unanimously condemns this bloody crime shows that they simply will not be able to get rid of it," the President said.
