Ilham Aliyev: "Azerbaijan is ready to hold talks with Armenia in Moscow or elsewhere"

Representatives of official Baku are ready to hold talks with the Armenian side on Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow or elsewhere.

The statement came from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Russia's TASS news agency.

"We are always ready to meet both in Moscow and elsewhere to end the conflict and find a solution," said Ilham Aliyev, answering a question on whether he was ready to come to Moscow to meet with his counterpart through mediation.

At the same time, the President of Azerbaijan said that Baku was ready for any contact.

"I have not received such an invitation in the current situation, so the question should not be addressed to me. Personally, Russian President Vladimir Putin, before him Dmitry Medvedev, organized trilateral meetings between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. However, "such contacts were suspended after the conditional transfer of power in Armenia to Soros," he said. Aliyev said.

According to the President of Azerbaijan, Russia has always played an important role in resolving the conflict. There are objective reasons for this, both historically and geographically. This is also due to the fact that Russia has been active in our region for decades and has a high level of interaction. Therefore, we are ready for any contact, "the President of Azerbaijan said.

İ. Aliyev recalled that when he received a proposal to organize a meeting of foreign ministers, the Azerbaijani side immediately agreed to the meeting.

"This point is also an indicator of our position, because at that time the Azerbaijani army had already successfully liberated part of the strategic territories. More than ten days had passed since the conflict continued, and it was clear to almost everyone who was capable of what. It was not difficult to predict the future course of military operations. However, we did not prolong the talks and refused to negotiate. We said, "Yes, we are ready."
