The WHO has ruled out a popular coronavirus drug as ineffective

Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) are currently studying drugs used to treat COVID-19. According to them, Remdesevir, Hydroxychloroxine, Lopinavir and Interferon are practically useless.

This was reported by the Financial Times, citing a study conducted by the organization.

The drugs were tested as part of WHO's Solidarity international multicenter randomized clinical trials. According to the WHO, none of these drugs reduces the risk of death from COVID-19 or the connection of the lungs to a ventilator.

The study was conducted on materials obtained from the treatment of more than 11,000 patients.

Doctors have not yet evaluated the study.

Recall that in early October, US President Donald Trump, who contracted the coronavirus, received Remdesivir. In July, WHO Senior Research Fellow Sumiya Swaminatan called the drug the only promising drug for the coronavirus.

The use of Remdesivir in the treatment of coronavirus patients has been officially approved in many countries, including the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Israel, and the United Kingdom. Initially, the drug was developed for the treatment of hepatitis C and other diseases.
