Next year may be colder than 2020.
According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Mokhov.
"This year began at the El Nino stage (fluctuations in surface water temperature in the equatorial part of the Pacific Ocean, which has a sharp impact on the climate) and ended at the La Nina stage (a colder analogue of El Nino - ed.). We can expect it to be colder next year, "Mokhov said.
He also noted that in years like 2020, there are more extreme weather events than in the years when El Nino and La Nina were in the neutral phase.
