Chief infectious disease specialist: "Coronavirus infection has increased in the country, it was expected"

The autumn-winter season has already begun and a number of acute respiratory diseases are expected to increase. As for the coronavirus, it is not ruled out that the number of infections associated with COVID-19 infection, which has been observed since the summer months, will increase.

The statement came from Tayyar Eyvazov, chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health. He said that preventive measures had been taken to cool the weather, increase the number of seasonal respiratory viruses and control the situation with the coronavirus:

"Today, the number of cases of coronavirus infection has increased. We were waiting for that. In general, diseases often increase in cold weather. On the one hand, this is a point that does not depend on people. The first is the lack of sunlight and the fact that it does not kill viruses in the open.

Fluctuating air temperature, crowds gathering indoors due to cold weather conditions, keeping windows closed in places, etc. causes accelerate the spread of the disease. At the same time, in cold weather, the blood vessels in the upper respiratory tract constrict, which leads to a decrease in the resistance of the mucous membranes. At the same time, the rules of conduct, non-compliance with hygienic norms, inadequate use of protective equipment in public places create a basis for the rapid spread of the disease.

Among the factors that led to the increase in infection, T. Eyvazov noted that in recent days the population took to the streets rejoicing in the victory of the Azerbaijani army over the enemy, and called on people to adhere more strictly to quarantine rules.

"The fact that young people gather in front of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription in support of the Azerbaijani army, do not use any protective masks, do not wait for social distance, has led to an increase in coronavirus infection. Today, the government has allocated its resources to two areas - the fight against the coronavirus and the war for our lands.

People have become a little indifferent to the coronavirus. The use of masks has significantly decreased. Quarantine rules are not observed in parking lots and public transport. Whether it was a coronavirus outbreak or a second wave, the infection was expected to increase in all cases. We know what rules must be followed to prevent this. Awareness-raising information on this has been and continues to be shared. Control in this direction must be seriously strengthened. "

"The transfer of some schools in the country to distance education is to prevent overcrowding among children. Although children pass the coronavirus asymptomatically, they can pose a serious risk as carriers. Their role in the rapid spread of the infection is quite large, "said the chief infectious disease specialist.
