"Russia and Turkey are the main states that have laid the foundation for long-term peace in the region."
This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Russia's First Channel.
The head of state noted that Turkey, as a great power and a neighbor of the South Caucasus, has every right to carry out a mediation mission after the end of active fighting:
"For 28 years, the current mediation mission has not achieved any positive results. On the contrary, it has led to the current situation. We must take a pragmatic approach to the issue and determine which states can contribute to the establishment of peace and development of cooperation in the region. I think this is, first of all, Russia and Turkey. "
