Official response to parental complaints regarding additional textbooks

Parents are dissatisfied with the additional funds required for textbooks in schools.

According to Gadin.Net, a group of parents filed a complaint to Oxu.Az. Parents claim that teachers in schools demand additional funding for textbooks from the textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education for the teaching process:

"We are talking about Mubariz Namazov's math book. Why is this book so important and why is it compulsorily borrowed from students? They want a new edition every year. If the textbook prepared by M.Namazov is more effective than the mathematics books approved for teaching by the Ministry of Education, they should add it to the book. The financial situation of the parents does not allow them to receive these additional funds.

In response to a request from the Ministry of Education, it was stated that according to the "Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on General Education", students in state and municipal general education institutions are provided with textbooks at public expense:

“There are enough tasks in the textbooks that it is possible to master the existing educational program by solving them in the notebook. However, the general education institution may use other teaching aids in addition to the textbook to implement the standards set out in the curriculum. Depending on their financial situation, parents can buy teaching aids recommended by the general education institution, such as other materials (tablets, colored paper, plasticine, felt-tip pens, pencils, albums, notebooks, etc.) for their children to use.

However, we also note that according to the "Rules for the preparation of textbooks, teaching aids and other teaching aids for general education institutions" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 25, 2020 No. 67, the state general education institution Before recommending any teaching aid for internal use, it must be approved by the decision of the pedagogical council. Teaching aids not approved by the school's pedagogical council cannot be allowed into the teaching process, even if the parents voluntarily receive them. ”
