"As September draws to a close, one of the most frequently asked questions is whether the quarantine regime will be extended, as well as whether service and catering facilities will continue to operate from September. "Depending on the epidemiological situation, it is more expedient to continue the gradual opening of the economy, although further decisions are expected."
The statement came from MP Vugar Bayramov, azxeber.com reports.
According to him, the World Health Organization no longer considers it expedient to apply quarantine measures:
"Given the economic and social factors, the re-introduction of strict quarantine in Azerbaijan is not desirable. On the contrary, it would be better to expand the activities in the service and catering sectors. Given the approaching autumn season, it is advisable to allow activities not only outdoors, but also indoors.
According to official statistics, 78.2 thousand of our citizens work in the field of tourist accommodation and catering, 81.5 thousand in the field of recreation, entertainment and art. This means that there are about 160,000 official employees in these two areas related to the catering and service sectors.
It should be taken into account that about two billion manat is created annually in the sector where cafes, restaurants and service facilities operate in our country. This is quite a serious figure. The experience of Central and Eastern European countries shows that in the fight against pandemics, it is as important to establish and control standards as quarantine rules.
Therefore, we propose to develop and apply the criteria to allow to operate in large trade facilities from October 1, and in wedding halls with new standards from November 1.
It is clear that for this proposal to be implemented, we need to strengthen control over the observance of criteria, as well as each of us to follow these rules. Only in this case, it is possible to reduce and localize the number of infections, as well as to gradually restore economic activity in all areas.
