"Mankind has failed the coronavirus pandemic, and the death toll from the disease is now approaching one million."
The statement came from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at a meeting of the General Assembly, Gadin.Net reports.
"The pandemic was a test we could not pass for international cooperation. The coronavirus has infected more than 30 million people worldwide and killed nearly a million, leaving it out of control. This is the result of a lack of global readiness, interaction, unity and solidarity, "Guterres said.
According to him, the coronavirus has covered the whole world like a black cloud: "It was also a warning to encourage us to act. We have no choice. We must either unite within global institutions or be crushed by strife and chaos."
