Scientists from Tyumen State University (TSU) have found a universal natural antibiotic that reduces the resistance of pathogens to drugs.
The text of the study was published in the journal Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, Qadin.Net reports quoting the Telegraph.
The authors claim that the substance found will help effectively fight most of the infectious diseases associated with bacteria and fungi in humans and animals.
The article notes that one of the tasks of pharmacology is to find natural antibiotics that can fight microorganisms.
Researchers at Tyumen State University have demonstrated for the first time in the world the unique ability of the peptide Emerisillipsin A. According to experts, the substance inhibits the ability of bacteria to form new ones, which reduces the resistance of pathogens to antibiotics.
As explained by the authors of the article, the main therapeutic feature of the studied substance is the universality of the effect.
According to experts, Emericillipsin A is promising both as an independent treatment and as an element of complex drugs. Treatment can be performed either by injection or topically - by direct intervention on the affected tissue.
In the future, a team of scientists intends to move to laboratory testing of the drug by working with cell models.
