Ronaldo's name was given to the academy
Portugal's Sporting has immortalized the name of former footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 35-year-old striker, who currently plays for Italian club Juventus, has been named after the Lisbon academy.
A statement from the club said: "The son embodies his home. Sporting's academy is now named the best Portuguese footballer in the world, having won the Ballon d'Or five times. The academy will perpetuate the club's greatest graduate , will be an inspiration for all young talents. "
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Sporting in 1997 at the age of 12. He made his first team debut in 2002 at the age of 17.
