Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 305 on amendments to the "Preferential and simplified Rules for the movement of goods across the customs border by individuals not intended for production or commercial purposes" comes into force today.
According to the new rules, the maximum amount of goods that can be imported duty-free by individuals has been reduced, Gadin.Net reports quoting publika.az. So far, a citizen could bring $ 1,500 worth of goods directly for personal use during the month, and $ 1,000 via e-commerce - by mail. According to the new change, these figures have been reduced to $ 800 and $ 300, respectively. That is, if a citizen buys goods worth more than $ 300 from a foreign store on the Internet, he must pay 36 percent customs duty for that excess amount.
According to the official statement, a citizen, with the consent of the carrier, can declare the ordered product several times a month by storing it in a warehouse belonging to the customs or carrier, or by submitting a simplified declaration to the customs authority.
