Doctors continue to warn that the second wave of COVID-19 could be more dangerous than the first. This is because the coronavirus overlaps with traditional respiratory illnesses in the fall. In this case, the virus is dangerous not only for the elderly and patients, but also for young people with strong immunity.
Russian biologist Nikolai Kontarov noted that young people are more likely to be infected with the virus due to their active lifestyle, Qadin.Net reports citing publika.az. Young people continue to live their lives to the fullest by meeting in large companies and touring various crowded places. Therefore, they can be infected with both the coronavirus and the flu and spread it. According to the expert, the flu can be dangerous for any age group as the new type of virus continues to spread in society:
"But this year the situation is different. The two viruses, which multiply in the lungs, strike the respiratory system twice. Not every flu responds positively to treatment. In addition, the consequences of the virus are still unknown.
According to the expert, many diseases, including severe neurological diseases, have a viral etymology. One of the reasons for their appearance is the presence of viruses in the body from past infections. The body is severely intoxicated, the liver and kidneys are overloaded. Many viruses also affect the heart sac. The main danger is that all this is not immediately visible.
Infectious disease specialist Ilya Akinfiyev noted that the combined effects of influenza and coronavirus on the human body have not yet been studied, but long-term results can be imagined:
"The circulation of the flu virus begins in November and lasts until March. However, there have been no such cases yet, and we hope that with the help of the vaccine it will be possible to minimize the number of such patients. "
According to the expert, there will probably be more severe cases of pneumonia than we saw in April. It will develop faster and the intoxication from the disease will be stronger.
Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Center, said that the coronavirus had a minimal effect on the human body, which has a good interferon status, and that the virus is usually mild in young people. The expert explained this by the fact that COVID-19 is very sensitive to interferon: “The flu virus is less sensitive to interferon, so young people are more likely to get the flu. Therefore, it is necessary to first get vaccinated against influenza, and after 1.5 months there will be a large number of vaccines against coronavirus. Humanity will be able to cope, "Ginzburg said.
