Russian scientists have found a way to treat patients without the use of artificial lung ventilation (ASV) during the treatment of coronavirus.
The statement came from Valery Chereshnev, scientific director of the Institute of Immunology and Physiology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIA Novosti reported.
According to him, inhalations with a mixture of helium and oxygen were tested in 50 patients with severe coronavirus. After the procedure, only one of them had to be connected to the ASV.
Chereshnev praised the experience.
"Production is underway," he added.
The scientist stressed that artificial ventilation of the lungs is quite a heavy burden on the body. According to him, the helium-oxygen mixture heated to 90-95 degrees is much better than mechanical ventilation.
