Clinical studies of blood plasma transfusions of COVID-19 survivors have shown that this procedure has little effect on the severity and duration of the disease.
According to TASS, the preliminary results of the test were published by the electronic scientific library "medRxiv".
"Plasma transfusion has actually reduced the concentration of viral RNA in the patient's body. However, this in no way affected the course of the disease, the characteristics of the patient's immune system and the concentration of anti-inflammatory molecules. This may explain why therapy has not worked in patients, despite neutralizing the virus, ”the researchers wrote.
At the same time, the scientists did not record any serious negative consequences of plasma transfusions, and even identified several positive effects. This procedure has saved many patients from coughing and fatigue.
In addition, the number of viral particles in the body is significantly reduced. According to scientists, this factor proves once again that the symptoms of COVID-19 are not associated with an increase in SARI-CoV-2, but with a violation of the immune system.
