Intensive use of painkillers used in the treatment of coronavirus has been shown to affect the kidneys.
Although this fact has been proven by research, experts have warned about painkillers, Gadin.Net reports citing publika.az. Bilal Gorcin, a nephrologist and chief physician at the Ahmet Dialysis Center of the Turkish Kidney Foundation, said that patients with severe pain from the hair follicles to the toenails are given paracetamol and strong rheumatism painkillers:
"In inpatients, these drugs can be given intravenously. Even heavy medications such as morphine can be used. Rheumatic painkillers, in particular, cause serious complications in the kidneys. COVID-19 itself and antibiotics used in treatment, antiviral and high-dose vitamins, painkillers cause kidney damage. This damage to the kidneys is temporary. Although it has not yet been reported that the coronavirus causes direct kidney damage or requires dialysis with permanent damage, 80 percent of patients in intensive care suffer from varying degrees of acute kidney damage.
The head of the Turkish Kidney Foundation, Timur Erkse, said that the role of painkillers in the treatment of coronavirus is great:
"Of course, treatment and the drugs used are not possible, but all measures related to the coronavirus must be taken to protect the health of the family and society. The most important thing to do is to follow the calls of health professionals. "
