The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a list of criteria for winning an Oscar for Best Picture.

The criteria include:
- At least one "colored" actor (Asian, black, Latin American, etc.) should play the leading role in the main or secondary;
- At least 30 percent of actors with small and insignificant roles must be women, members of a racial or ethnic group, members of the LGBT community and people with disabilities;
- The main line or theme of the film should be directed to these groups;
- Representatives of minorities should hold at least two creative leadership positions.
The new rules will come into force in 2024. The film must meet at least two of the four standards.
