A new rule for foreigners who want to live in Russia

Foreigners living in Russia are allowed to register foreign nationals at their place of residence.
Foreigners or stateless persons who already have an apartment in Russia can provide their homes for the residence of another foreigner or stateless person.
In this regard, RBC reported with reference to the official legal information portal, where the relevant law was published.
It is stated that the latter must inform about their arrival within seven working days.
Previously, foreigners had the right to register only in their apartments.
The foreign citizen must submit a notice of arrival within seven working days from the date of arrival. Exceptions are when a foreigner is staying in a hotel, sanatorium, medical institution or social service organization for persons without special accommodation, working on a rotating basis, or serving an administrative penalty in a special institution.

This rule does not apply to participants in a state program to assist in the voluntary relocation of compatriots and their families living abroad who are not allowed to register at their place of residence for 30 days.
