The number of passengers has decreased due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the Los Angeles Metro is considering canceling bus and train fares.
According to Qadin.Net, this was reported by Bloomberg.
LA Metro, which serves the busiest part of the United States, wants to take such a step to reduce the economic pressure on people whose incomes are declining due to the crisis. Alternative financing through government grants or redistribution of advertising revenue is envisaged to prevent a decline in revenue.
Note that some countries in Europe have already decided to take this step. Estonia and Luxembourg have introduced free public transport programs.
In Paris, this decision is valid for minors.
