Two vaccinations against COVID-19 on green plants under the leadership of Tarlan Mammadov, a member of the Scientific Committee of Vaccination of the Turkish Institute of Biotechnology, professor of Akdeniz University, corresponding member of ANAS, have yielded successful results on animals and are ready to be tested on humans.
According to the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Tarlan Mammadov started vaccination against COVID-19 with a group of 20 people about four months ago.
In a statement, the scientist said that they were vaccinating a new generation of Nicotiana Benthamiana, which belongs to the family of tobacco plants, which they produce exclusively in the laboratory. He noted that a single dose of the vaccine they produce creates a special immunity against COVID-19.
Noting that they have developed two vaccines in this direction, Mammadov said the results were extremely successful.
"We believe that the vaccine candidates we produce will be safe and effective against all mutations. Candidates for the COVID-19 vaccine can now be tested on humans. The production and purification efficiency is high enough for the antibody trade.
Mammadov added that the study was submitted to the Turkish Vaccination Scientific Committee in the form of a report and will be sent to the Ministry of Health in the near future
