Mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan will be included in the UNESCO list

There are more than 300 mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan. Such natural objects do not exist in all countries.
The statement came from Arzu Samadova, Deputy Head of the Biodiversity Protection Service, during a live broadcast of the "Expert Hour" program on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
According to him, there are protected volcanoes in the country, which are under the status of reserves:
"Reserves are areas with a strict security system. But there are also volcanoes that do not have the status of a reserve, and it is possible to look at those areas by following the safety rules.
A.Samadova also touched upon the discussions on mud volcanoes at the 43rd session of UNESCO held in our country last year:
"It is planned to give mud volcanoes the status of a geopark and add them to the UNESCO list of cultural heritage. The regulations of geoparks have already been approved. "Once the geopark status is achieved, people will be able to view volcanoes and get more information about them with the help of guides."
